Ford Performance Racing’s Mark Winterbottom is comfortably into tomorrow’s Top Ten Shoot out for pole position at the 2010 Bathurst 1000.
Frosty, driving the #6 Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon, posted the fourth fastest time with a 2.07.45sec lap of the 6.21km mountain circuit
"Overall today was a good day," Frosty said.
"The car's feeling pretty good ... I made a couple of small errors on crucial laps so I know that Luke and I have the tools to do the job tomorrow.
There's always more speed to be found - tweaks here and there – and we'll do that again tonight like we always do and hopefully take another step closer to the front of the grid ... if you look at our practice and qualifying results from Darwin onwards you'll see a pattern emerging which will tell you where we are now," Frosty coyly said.
The #6 Dunlop Super Dealer FPR Falcon of Steve Richards and James Moffat also fared well today with a promising 15th position.
"There's no doubt the car is a strong race car," Richo said.
"We struggled a bit today getting our qualifying set-up right but over 161 laps we'll be in the mix ... James has been getting plenty of laps around here today with his DVS duties so he's a lot more comfortable in the car now and will on the pace in his stints.
We still have another 50 minute practice session tomorrow which will help us fine tune a few things so all in all, I'm feeling pretty good about Sunday," Richo concluded.
FPR's good day was completed with Paul Dumbrell's FPR Bottle-O Racing Falcon also slipping into the top ten in 10th place.
Tomorrow's schedule on the mountain looks like this:
1000-1050: Practice 6 (All drivers)
1410: DVS Race 2 (Moff)
1545-1630: Top Ten Shootout (Frosty & Paul Dumbrell)
