Ford Performance Racing (FPR) is running a special livery this weekend at the Bathurst 1000 on the team's #5 Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon to celebrate naming-rights sponsor Orrcon Steel's 10th anniversary in V8 Supercars.
Orrcon Steel first sponsored Larkham Motorsport for the 2002 Bathurst 1000 and to celebrate its milestone has commissioned a special steel-themed livery for the car of Mark Winterbottom and Steve Richards.
The #5 Orrcon Steel FPR Falcon is also now named 'Blue Steel' following a competition run by Orrcon Steel for fans to name Winterbottom's one race old factory Falcon.
A number of fans selected the name and each have won tickets to Bathurst, a meet and greet with Winterbottom and Richards along with the opportunity to join the team on the grid prior to the start of the race.
Orrcon Steel managing director Leon Andrewartha says he'll walk through the gates of Mount Panorama feeling proud of his company's achievements over the last 10 years in the sport.
“Orrcon Steel is extremely proud of our long running association with V8 Supercars and Ford Performance Racing, in particular we are delighted with the calibre of drivers we've had as our brand ambassadors," said Andrewartha.
“From the beginning with Mark Larkham and Jason Bargwanna, through to today with Mark Winterbottom, Steven Richards, Will Davison and Luke Youlden - Orrcon Steel feels very strongly that our decade long involvement in motorsport has been critical to the development of our brand. It shows Orrcon Steel's commitment to see it through."
FPR team principal Tim Edwards congratulated Orrcon Steel for its ongoing support of the team and the category and praised the company for their innovative approach to activating their sponsorship.
"Orrcon Steel firstly must be congratulated for the longevity of their commitment to the sport and how they have matured that involvement year after year," Edwards said.
"Obviously they have been a core part of our team for many years, but what they have done to involve fans and their customers and give them unprecedented access to what we do really is second to none.
"It is great we can celebrate their 10th anniversary at our biggest event of the year and it would be fitting if we could cap off the celebrations with success on Sunday."
FPR drivers have a busy day of commitments on Wednesday before four days of on-track action at Bathurst commences on Thursday.
