25 | 02 | 2014 - NEW LINE-UP SWITCHED ON FOR CLIPSAL
Ford Pepsi Max Crew heads into the season-opening Clipsal 500 motivated to push from the very start of the year as the team looks to use its experienced campaigners and recent injection of youth to be contenders from the opening race of the season.
Frosty is seeking revenge after cruelly being forced out while leading last year?s opening race.
Rising star Chaz Mostert wants to use his Clipsal debut to build his experience heading into his first full season but believes he can be in the mix as the weekend progresses.
Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:
?Clipsal definitely sculpts the season so if you start well it gives you confidence and momentum. Last year after the opening race we were already 150 points off the lead and that proved too much to claw back by season?s end. We obviously need to try and win all three races but the main thing is to score a lot of points. We?ve come a long way in 12 months so reliability isn?t a concern but the first races show where everybody has improved over the off-season. We are happy with what we?ve done but it is both nervous and exciting as there is so much still unknown. We are all looking forward to the event and the great atmosphere.?
Chaz Mostert - #6 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:
?I am pretty excited and haven?t slept a lot lately because of the anticipation. I already know I am a factory driver as I?m heading to Adelaide two days earlier than any other event to do promotional work which is a welcome change. The extra couple of days also allow me to enjoy the build-up. Clipsal?s new format is exciting and I believe it will suit my style as I am still adapting to the new car and the team of people around me. Adelaide puts on a huge show every year and it is a great way to start my first full season so I can?t wait to get on track.?
Tim Edwards ? Team Principal:
?The season can?t start fast enough for us as we?ve enjoyed a smooth build-up and all of the team just want to get racing. Everyone has spent a lot of time together reviewing and planning so now we just need to see where we are once we get going. The test day was literally a wash out for all teams so nobody has really gained much which means maximising our practice time will be critical, especially for Chaz to familiarise himself with his new surroundings.?
