Ford Performance Racing has completed a mammoth day of testing with all four main series factory Fords and the team?s Development Series entry driven by the squad's eight drivers led by V8 Supercars championship leader, Mark Winterbottom.
Winterbottom and last-start winner, Chaz Mostert were joined by co-drivers Steve Owen and Paul Morris in the two Pepsi Max Crew Fords, while David Reynolds and Dean Canto rekindled their partnership and were joined by Jack Perkins and young gun Cameron Waters.
Each driver completed a significant amount of laps, while crucial componentry development was undertaken by the team's four regular stars.
Winterbottom and Mostert were pleased with their gains and applauded the team's engineering group for its efforts in recent months.
'Frosty' also worked closely with Perkins to assist the team newcomer find further speed in his Team JELD-WEN Ford.
The team now has three weeks to work through the substantial amount of data gained before the long haul north to Darwin ? the sixth event of the 2014 V8 Supercars Championship.
Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:
"It was actually a good day. We put some new componentry in the car which I think will stay in. It proved reliable and provided an improvement so we will leave that in the car. The tyre bank is never great in testing so lap time-wise we weren?t setting the world on fire, but we recorded set-up gains. All-in-all I am pretty happy. We covered a heap of laps and gained some valuable information on the new components. I had a steer of Jack?s (Perkins) car and found no problems which give him some direction on set-up. He found some extra pace as the day went on so it was a strong day all round for the team."
Chaz Mostert - #6 Pepsi Max FPR Ford:
"It was an awesome day and I don?t think I?ve ever achieved so much at a test day, ever. We tried a few new things and some settings which were a little outside the square, but we worked on the weak areas and didn?t lose any of our strengths. Working with Paul was fine. I remember when I was a lot younger playing the V8 Supercars game on PlayStation and my favourite car was his 'Big Kev' car so I am pretty excited by it all. He has so much experience at Bathurst and the other enduro tracks so I plan to use that to my advantage. Until then we will keep working on our sprint round pace and I am looking forward to Darwin."
